Who else wants more people posting on your Facebook page?
Through all the recent changes on Facebook, one thing remains the same. We all want more people looking at our business, buying our services and posting to our Facebook page. The more posts we get, the more people who see us and the more chances we get to meet our goals. Whether those goals include making a sale, getting publicity or creating strategic alliances; getting more engagement from our fans can be the key to it all!
So how can you make that happen? There’s so much information going out into the newsfeeds that it’s often hard to stand out from the crowd and be heard. Here are a few tips that I’ve found to be very effective in getting more engagement from the members of my Facebook page.
Know your fans
Ok, I know they aren’t technically fans any longer. Now we choose to “Like” other people’s pages instead of choosing to “Become a fan”. The end result, however, is the same. These people are members of your page. Do you know who they are? What type of business do they have? What are they interested in? This page isn’t just about you. It’s about the people who choose to “Like” it with you! Find out who they are, introduce yourself on a personal level and share the things that interest them. You’ll quickly find yourself with a group of people who sit up and take notice when you make a post. They know it will be something they want to read!
Encourage Questions/Comments
This one may seem pretty obvious to you but think about it carefully. You’re probably making posts and asking questions on your fan page. But are you asking people for comments and questions outside your page? When you hold a teleseminar do you encourage those people to ask questions about the information you covered on your page? When you sign up a new client do you encourage them to post their exchanges openly with you on your page? When you send materials out to your mailing list are you sharing your Facebook page and encouraging them to communicate with you there?
Ask your clients/leads if they have a page and ask permission to check in with them periodically right on their fan page wall. People enjoy an easy way to get in touch with you, receive information and get their business in front of others. Facebook pages can be a very easy and effective way for them to do all of that!
Care for your page
This one can be a bit more difficult but if you’re going to have a Facebook page for your business then it’s important to care for it. Are you consistently sharing thoughts, helpful tips, great information and insightful questions with the members of your page? Is your page so much a part of your business that you post regularly without even thinking about it? You can’t help yourself! You need to be in touch with your fans! Or is your page an afterthought? Something you need to mark off your “List” for the day? If that’s the case then it’s going to show. People can tell when you honestly want to make a connection with them or when you’re just going through the motions. A Facebook page is an excellent communication tool but you must really want to use that tool in order for it to be effective!
Everything you do with your Facebook page communicates something to its members. They’ll know if you really understand their needs or if you’re just trying to sell them something. They’ll know if you really want to hear from them or if you’re just blasting out cookie cutter information and hoping for a response. What are you communicating on your page?
I invite you to share your fan page with us here. Post a link so we can all “Like” each others pages and start connecting!
