Who Is Your "We"?
This year I had the opportunity to attend Social Media Marketing World 2015 virtually. I'll also be attending Social Media Success Summit. I attend quite a few of these conferences and participate in the networking opportunities every time I get the chance. As a result, I've discovered a lot of new information and techniques which will help me and my clients achieve big results this year!
As I listen to some of the speakers at these events however, one thing stands out. They keep talking about their teams and how "we" track results carefully and "we" prepare quality content that engages and "we" share across multiple channels and "we" are focusing on native video. The "we" talk goes on and on.
As I reviewed some of the recordings recently, I laughingly thought to myself, "Boy, that's what I'm missing! I'm blogging, networking, creating video, I've mobilized, etc but I need one of those "we" things they keep talking about!
I'm trying to be funny and hopefully I've succeeded in giving you a laugh! The point is that most small business owners just don't have a "we" and one person can't write content, create videos, monitor, track, engage, analyze and take the quiet time you need to come up with great creative ideas intended to engage your audience. Let's face it, before your marketing begins, you have a business to run! Before you send your first tweet or create your first video, you have a website to build, product to create, clients to find, paperwork to fill out, calls to make and the list goes on and on. You're exhausted and you haven't told anyone about your business yet! All that takes time and then the marketing begins.
I'm very fortunate. I do have a "we". My assistant is incredible. All of my assistants are incredible. They help manage my email campaigns, research content, schedule posts, create surveys, excel spreadsheets and Google forms, they come up with creative suggestions, keep an eye on my social sites so I can respond to the people in my network and generally free up my time so I can spend some of it networking and meeting new people who will become brand advocates and clients to help grow my business.
I'm also fortunate in that I have friends to mastermind with, people who "get" me and understand what I'm trying to accomplish. I have people who happily share my content and recommend me just because they think I'm great!
All of those people make up my "we".
Do you have a "we"? That "we" might not be a virtual assistant. Your "we" may be a spouse or a friend who helps you. It might be a niece who provides tech support or an accountant or a web designer who goes the extra mile. Your "we" shouldn't be a burden. They shouldn't be someone you have to micromanage. They shouldn't complain constantly and make you feel as though it's just easier to do it all yourself. They should be someone you trust. Your "we" should be strong and independent and they should support you so you can do what you love and what you're really great at in your business!
If you don't have a "we" yet, I encourage you to reach out to me today and ask how we can partner together so you can get more out of your day and start seeing results in your business. Maybe you need an assistant. That's great! Maybe you're just ready to start networking and masterminding with another high quality professional who "gets" you and what you're trying to accomplish. That's great too!
Reach out and say hello. I personally respond on all of my social networking sites and I'm always looking for another great person to add to my "we".
